Life On This Side of Heaven

There are burdens we bear and pains so unfair

this side of Heaven

Hurts that strike deep, preventing our sleep

this side of Heaven

Grace unreturned, valiant efforts are spurned

this side of Heaven

Determination bleeds out when climbing the mount

this side of Heaven

The black in our hearts shatters friendships apart

this side of Heaven

Love is shunned and we weep shocked and stunned

this side of Heaven

Kept at arm's length from unity's strength

this side of Heaven

Judged on appearance despite perseverance

this side of Heaven

Affections misunderstood as we seek brotherhood

this side of Heaven

How broken we are as we reach for a star

Clinging to hope as we walk a tightrope

...this side of Heaven.  

And yet...

The wisdom we seek is found at His feet

this side of Heaven

Beauty meets grace as we gaze in His face

this side of Heaven

A love so profound, once lost we're now found

this side of Heaven

Wrapped in His arms we find comfort from harm

this side of Heaven

A fortress and shield gives no room for our fear

this side of Heaven

Love redefined as we bask in Divine

this side of Heaven

Hope is renewed and friendships ensued

this side of Heaven

Courage we wield when our broken hearts we yield

this side of Heaven

Fear is cast out, healed we can shout

Victory is our's and forgiven we are!
